指定廃棄物に関する法制度は 環境庁の管轄にあたる。
Legislation pertaining to scheduled wastes comes under the purview of the Department of Environment (DOE).
1989年の「環境の質に関する（指定廃棄物）規制」で、１０７種類の有害廃棄物が「指定廃棄物」として定義された。ＰＣＢは「指定廃棄物」の一つである。
Under the Environmental Quality (Scheduled Waste) regulation 1989, 107 categories of hazardous waste are defined, as "scheduled wastes" of which is PCBs.
